Online Tutorial on Outcomes-Based Planning and Evaluation

Shaping Outcomes: An Online Tutorial in the principles of "outcomes-based planning and evaluation" is designed to help you

• Improve your approach to grant writing and project planning, and
• Earn library education units (LEUs) for continuing Indiana public librarian certification or Continuing Renewal Units (CRUs) for Indiana school library media specialists.

Orienting projects around participant outcomes—not what benefits a library—is an effective way to rally stakeholders around your project ideas. Shaping Outcomes takes approximately 10-20 hours to complete, as you work on your own project through the concepts and technique of OBPE, with coaching from an experienced instructor.

The cost to take Shaping Outcomes is $150 per participant—if you have a group working on a project, use one person as the contact person, with the whole group learning together for one price. Through December, Indiana University-SLIS, Indianapolis, will provide half-price scholarships to those working in Indiana libraries ($75); people from libraries serving economically struggling communities can qualify for full scholarships provided by the Institute for Museum and Library Services.
